Nested geometries in perfect balance: a hexagon frames the outer edge, its perimeter built from triangular shards arranged in sharp radial patterns. Moving inward, the composition shifts to concentric circles rendered as alternating black and white crescents that seem to rotate, to spiral, creating the illusion of centripetal motion pulling everything toward a magnetic centre. At the heart sits an octagonal frame containing fine radiating lines and small circular marks like particles or cells arranged in precise configurations — as though looking down into the core of something at once mechanical and biological. The entire work rendered in black and white line work with meticulous detail, suggesting cross-section, geology, the rings of a tree recording years of growth and choice.

Statement

Checkeredism #109 continues the series' descent toward the self's interior. Where #108 carved away a single octagon, #109 multiplies nested frames — hexagon containing circles containing octagon — suggesting that the self is not a single point but a series of boundaries, each one containing further mysteries. The spiraling crescents create optical movement, suggesting that consequence is not static but perpetually in motion, perpetually rotating around some unreachable core.

The small marks at the absolute centre read as both minimal and infinite — a suggestion that what lies at the heart of choice and consequence may be both utterly simple and impossibly complex. Sosa proposes that we are the choices we make, yes — but we are also the geometries that frame those choices, the boundaries that contain them, the spirals that carry them toward their centre.
