Zoila Sosa

Born in 1975 in the Dominican Republic, Zoila Sosa discovered her passion for the arts as a child, singing and performing at every opportunity — from weekly school assemblies to evening gatherings where neighbours would assemble to watch her, rewarding each performance with spontaneous gifts of appreciation.

In the 1990s, she founded her own girl group alongside her sister and four friends, performing at community fundraisers, Fiestas Patronales, weddings, and private celebrations throughout her hometown. Her artistic curiosity later led her to the Cultural Society at her university, where she cultivated her talent for acting and earned leading roles in numerous theatrical productions. Drawing on her multidisciplinary skills as performer, writer, producer, and director, she conceived and staged an original musical theatre production in 1997 in tribute to her mother.

Sosa turned to painting in 2018, working primarily in acrylic and oil to create pieces gifted to those she held dear. Between 2019 and 2023, she produced over 200 original works — a body of work she was largely compelled to leave behind amid significant personal upheaval, carrying only a select few pieces with her. From 2023 onward, she began exploring digital painting and drawing, developing a practice that merges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary technology.

That same year, she established a presence on an online gallery platform, where several of her works have since been published and sold. In 2025, her paintings were featured in three international group exhibitions:
