A perfect octagon rendered as an impossible three-dimensional form, its interior carved away to reveal layers upon layers of intricate patterning. Radiating from multiple points near the centre, stripes, checkerboards, and diamond patterns create a sense of pressure and movement emanating outward toward the octagonal boundary. A spiral of nested octagons turns inward at the composition's heart, drawing the eye down into depths that seem to recede infinitely. The entire structure is rendered in fine black line work against white, creating optical vibration and a sense of continuous motion despite the perfect geometric containment. The octagonal frame suggests stability, completion, the eight-fold path — yet everything within it churns.

Statement

Checkeredism #108 introduces dimensionality to the series' architectural language. Where earlier works explored distortion and rupture within a relatively flat plane, #108 suggests cross-section, excavation, the idea of looking inward through layers toward some unreachable centre. The octagon — that symbol of completion, balance, the eight directions — becomes a container for perpetual motion, for patterns that cannot settle.

The work speaks to the paradox that Sosa has been circling throughout the series: that consequence, though it appears to follow ordered rules, is never truly still. That choice, though it takes geometric form, always contains turbulence. That the self, though it can be framed and bounded and given shape, is always internally moving, always in process. We are the choices we make — and those choices, examined closely enough, reveal infinite depth.
