The self made emblem. At the absolute centre sits a perfect white circle framed by concentric rings of black line work, and within that circle a small symbol rendered in solid black — an intertwined form, almost like an infinity sign or two figures in conversation, the mark somehow both simple and impossibly complex. Radiating outward in strict bilateral symmetry, geometric forms — triangles and trapezoids rendered in stark black and white — recede into impossible depth, creating the illusion of looking down a tunnel, through a series of frames, toward that singular central mark. A vertical axis runs through the entire composition like a spine. There is no colour, no mercy, only the absolute clarity of black against white and the geometry of consequence made architectural.

Statement

Checkeredism #106 represents the series reaching a kind of apotheosis — the reduction of all the complexity, all the multiplicity, all the colour and pattern and distortion to a single symbol held at the centre of an architectural void. The mark within the circle is the self, or choice, or consequence itself — rendered as something both intimate and impersonal, both knowable and enigmatic.

The geometric recession suggests that all roads lead inward, that all choices, all patterns, all consequences converge toward this one irreducible point. The perfect symmetry insists on order, on balance, on the possibility that chaos can be held within a frame. Yet the symbol itself remains almost illegible — refusing simple interpretation, insisting on mystery.

We are the choices we make. And sometimes, Sosa suggests, what we are is a small mark at the centre of a vast geometric field, known only to ourselves, held in perfect symmetry by forces we cannot fully see.
