Checkeredism #094
A return to order and rhythm after the gallery of selves in #093: a perfectly regular checkerboard of three repeating elements — bright yellow, cyan, and lavender — arranged in an alternating pattern that marches across the entire field without deviation or distortion. Within each lavender square sits a set of nested concentric frames, echoing the portrait panels from the previous works, but here rendered more abstractly, almost like empty windows or chambers waiting to be filled. The regularity is absolute, hypnotic even — a visual music of pure pattern, where the individual selves glimpsed in #092 and #093 have dissolved back into the abstract order that contains them.

Statement
Checkeredism #094 marks a quiet withdrawal from the human figures that emerged in #092. Sosa returns to pure pattern, but now that pattern carries the memory of the portraits it briefly held. The nested squares within the lavender cells read as both abstract geometry and as traces — the ghost of a face, the outline of a self, now abstracted back into the board’s underlying structure.
The work suggests a paradox at the heart of the Checkeredism series: that the self and the pattern are not separate. Zoom in close enough and you see a human face gazing outward; zoom out and it dissolves into the order of the board. We are both the pattern and the person who makes it — at once individual and indivisible from the larger grid that contains us.
