Checkeredism #098
A return to abundance and symmetry: sixteen identical mandalas arranged in a rigid 4x4 grid against a singing magenta ground. Each mandala is a kaleidoscopic form — a perfect radial symmetry built from overlapping sections of diamond, triangle, and checkerboard pattern, all rendered in stark black and white line work. They are austere and ornamental simultaneously, recalling both the tessellations of Islamic geometry and the inward-turning forms of meditation. The repetition is absolute; no variation flickers across the grid. Yet within each identical form lies infinite complexity — the eye cannot settle, cannot map the pattern, can only circle endlessly within the labyrinth of each repeated centre.

Statement
Checkeredism #098 follows the rupture and exposure of #097 with a gesture toward balance and repetition. The mandalas suggest a return — not to innocence, but to order, to the possibility that the broken patterns can be gathered back into something coherent. Sixteen identical forms speak to community, multiplicity held in discipline; the infinite complexity within each one speaks to the irreducible uniqueness of individual choice.
The work marks a turning point in the series’ arc: from the breaking through to the gathering back together. It suggests that consequence, though it fractures and ruptures, also consolidates into new patterns. We are the choices we make — and those choices, repeated and reflected, can still hold beauty.
