This monochromatic OP-Art piece plays with perspective and perception. A classic black-and-white checkerboard backdrop grounds a complex, twisted geometric core, giving the static image a dynamic sense of dimension and motion. The central gem-like polyhedron reads as truncated, multi-faceted solid, with each facet catching a distinct optical pattern: dense micro checkers, radiating triangular chevrons, and nested rectangular target motifs. The eye cannot settle on a single consistent light source, similar to the chiaroscuro technique used by Picasso in his cubism paintings, which gives the piece a restless, kinetic energy.

The tight checkerboard scaling toward the facet edges creates a genuine moiré flicker - reminiscent of Bridget Riley or Victor Vasarely’s op-art experiments - the pattern seems to pulsate and wrap rather than sit still.

The artwork’s op-art surface camouflages into its own canvas, blurring the line between “content” and “empty space.”

This work is strong in achromatic intensity: it is stripped of colour and relies entirely on value contrast and pattern density to generate depth, movement, and a slightly vertiginous, hypnotic quality that reads as a digitally generated meditation on visual noise, dimensionality, and the perceptual trickery of pure black-and-white pattern work.
