A rigorous bilateral symmetry rendered in stark black and white with precise flecks of colour at the core: two massive concentric circles arc outward from the centre like parentheses or protective forms, while above and below sit tilted checkerboards that seem to frame or anchor the composition. At the absolute heart, a vertical black form rendered in fine white striations is pierced by two blood-red triangular arrows pointing inward — suggesting collision, convergence, or pressure from opposing directions. Tiny accents of cobalt blue and viridian green spark at the very centre, the only warm moments in an otherwise monochromatic field, as though these colours were trapped at the point of impact.

Statement

Checkeredism #047 explores the geometry of collision and containment. The concentric circles suggest both protection and trap, enclosure and amplification — while the red arrows speak of forces converging from opposite directions, meeting at a singular point. The checkerboards at top and bottom ground the composition in the series' foundational language of choice and consequence, yet here they feel almost peripheral to the drama unfolding at the centre.

The sparse use of colour — those trapped jewels of green and blue — suggests that some moments of consequence are defined not by richness but by intensity, by the compression of opposing forces into an irreducible point. We are the choices we make, Sosa reminds us, and sometimes those choices are defined by what presses against us as much as what we choose to do.
