A dramatic inward turn: a single, luminous form floats against the cobalt void — bulbous, organic, almost biological. Its boundary wavers and ripples with iridescent pastels: rose, cyan, and seafoam, as though the membrane itself were breathing. Inside, a cluster of oval shapes rendered in tight parallel stripes — blue and white lines that suggest pressure, movement, internal turbulence. These striped forms seem to press against the translucent skin from within, creating dimples and protrusions, as though the entire vessel were animated by forces gathering at its centre.

Statement

Checkeredism #096 moves from the external choreography of portrait and pattern to the internal landscape of a single consciousness. Sosa abandons the grid — that organizing principle of the entire series — in favour of something closer to an organism: a permeable boundary containing pressures, movements, thoughts that cannot stay still. The striped ovals read as impulses, impulses, memories, the thousand small decisions that accumulate not as a visible pattern but as an internal turbulence, visible only at the surface where they press against the skin.

The work suggests that the Checkeredism series has been moving toward this moment: from the external board to the portrait, and from the portrait inward to the self as a site of constant, invisible choice-making. We are the choices we make — but most of that work, Sosa seems to say, happens in silence, in pressure, in the depths no grid can capture.
